René Gagnon is a self-taught artist, born in Chicoutimi Nord (Québec) in 1928, he is considered Saguenay’s premier painter. The loving interpreter of snow and the glacial vastness of the inhumane beauty seizing nature when cold happens. All throughout his prolific career of more than 60 years, his work has tour the world and contributed exceptionally to the international influence of Québécois and Canadian art.
From the 60’s, he exhibits his work in New York, than Paris at the Bernheim-Jeune Gallery, in Morocco and in Asia (Taipei, Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur). His paintings of typical Québec winter sceneries can be found around the world in public as well as in private collections including the White House in Washington, DC.
